Scott & Fyfe Ltd.'s new fire-resistant mat is designed for use in rail car interior parts.
Scott & Fyfe Ltd. has added an exceptionally fire-resistant chopped glass mat to its Polymat reinforcement product line.
Polymat FR is designed for resin transfer molding applications where very high fire performance is demanded, as in rail car interior parts, and complies with European standards such as EN45545. Polymat FR is comprised of a 100 percent glass core sandwiched between two layers of chopped strand mat.
The Fife, Scotland, company says high strength laminates are allowed with up to 40 percent by weight glass ratio. Scott & Fyfe offers claims the new glass mat provides fast and efficient resin flow, thereby assuring reliability when processing highly filled resins.
